Lantern DIY Workshop

Dear residents,

The Chinese Lantern Festival is around the corner. The Lap-Chee Lantern DIY Team would like to organize a Lantern DIY Workshop in order to introduce the history and customs of Lantern Festival and cultivate a flourishing atmosphere of Lantern. We would like to introduce diverse methods of making different lanterns.

Some light refreshments will be served as well. All residents of JCSVIII and members of the HKU community are welcome to participate in this activity!!

Brief Introduction of Chinese Lantern Festival:

The Lantern Festival or the Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations, and falls on some day in February or early March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BCE-CE 25), it had become a festival with great significance. During the Lantern Festival, children go out at night to temples carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns
